Trish introduced the meeting and Grant and Bill led in worship. Grant gave us an overview of his upcoming trip to Israel and shared some pix from his last trip, particularly his time at Sar El as a volunteer worker with the Israeli Army. He will be doing another stint with Sar El on this trip. Trish then introduced Shelley Jamieson, who worked at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, also as a volunteer. Shelley gave a very lively and informative review of her time at the Garden Tomb, and the preparation she made for it. She met and worked alongside many interesting people in the course of her work, and had many interesting stories to tell, from the overlarge rats not being chased by the overfed cats, to humorous stories about the bad behaviour of some 'pilgrims' to the Quest for Marmite in Jerusalem. Clearly the Garden tomb is not just a place of archaeological and historic interest but a place of worship that people remember for its prayerful, prayer saturated atmosphere. Shelley's bottom line, that all the effort to get there, overcoming the fears and apprehensions about tackling new tasks in a new or completely foreign environment, is all worth it. God prepares the way and He blesses and enables the work.
